Renowned (MBE) Tech Entrepreneur Joins Digital Next Board - Digital Next

Digital Next is proud to announce the arrival of Scott Fletcher (MBE) to our board of directors in a move that co-founder Justin Blackhurst described as ‘taking the business to the next level’. Finalised earlier this week, the renowned Tech Entrepreneur agreed to buy the equity currently held by Online Group Europe AB, bringing the majority stake back to home soil, and providing further funding for the business as required for growth support. The last few years has seen Digital Next grow from local to global, expanding into 4 new locations (London, Dublin, Melbourne & UAE), and we can only anticipate further expansion with Scott’s support.

Scott Fletcher (MBE) commented:

I have known Mark and Justin Blackhurst ever since I met them at a Google event in 2012, it was clear they had a vision and drive to achieve their ultimate goals. We did discuss working together in the past, but the timing was never right until now. It seemed clear to me that Digital Next needed my know-how and capital investment to realise its full potential. Like myself, Mark and Justin started in a back bedroom, I now want to give them the benefit of my experience and fast track their growth. I’m really excited about this deal, Digital Next is a great brand and fits well with my other tech businesses.

About Scott Fletcher (MBE):

As one of the UK’s leading tech entrepreneurs, Scott already heads up companies’ worth in excess of $400m. He brings a wealth of experience, not least from the business he founded when just 22 years old, ANS, which is now a leading UK cloud service provider. In July 2008 Scott was named Entrepreneur of the Year for the North West (England) at the National Business Awards. Scott personally donated £10,000 in ANS’ name to fund the first prize in the ‘New East Manchester Enterprize Competition.’ Their business advice service helped set up 42 new companies in 2007. He is also active within the local community, having previously sat on the board of FC United of Manchester and as a Governor of a local school, Manchester Academy. In April 2009, Fletcher was lauded for intervening to save an artist’s home from repossession, offering to pay the outstanding and future mortgage payments. Recently awarded with an MBE by the Queen for outstanding service to the local community, Scott is also a popular public figure.

Global CEO of Digital Next, Justin Blackhurst, commented:

“It became apparent we needed to decouple from our Swedish partners this year. We wish them all the best and have agreed to part company amicably, Scott joins the board to enable us to move forward quickly now. All the recent hard work developing the management leadership team and installing the correct infrastructure is now paying off and Scott provides us with the access to capital that we need. I have never been more excited about our future as we are now perfectly positioned to take the brand to the next level.”

Branch Manager of Digital Next Australia, Nathan Elly, commented:

“The team in Australia are looking forward to seeing what Scott will bring to the table and will no doubt be touching base shortly. Having seen exponential growth ourselves, since our Melbourne launch in 2014, it is comforting to know that we have even more clout to our offering now with Scott. Digital Next has always been an intensely fast-growing agency and it is great to have a like-minded individual on the board – We consistently want to be bigger and deliver better service to our clients.”
